Count it Up

Can you remember the days of driving your car with little to no gas – laying hands on the dashboard to reach your destination? Have you ever had bills stacked so high, you had to rob Peter to pay Paul, and Paul still came up short? Or, perhaps you, too, grew up on fried bologna sandwiches, like the 2-time Grammy®, 7-time GMA Dove award-winning president of Reach Records, Lecrae.

Better yet, ever consider that your worst days would have been someone else’s best days?

Lecrae’s latest single, “Blessings“, featuring Ty Dolla $ign, has been lighting up the airways since its drop on January 27th. Slated to appear on his next album, the first project after partnering with Columbia Records, “Blessings” is a reminder to us all to count it up!

A modern-day King David with fierce hip-hop swag, Lecrae’s “Blessings” echoes what Psalm 103:2-5 has emphasized throughout the ages – don’t forget God’s many blessings!

How Could We Forget His Blessings?

David and Lecrae are on to something. We need the reminder. Unfortunately, it’s rather easy sometimes for us to forget how far God has brought us. And, when our major blessings and motion picture testimonies fade with time – when we’re no longer scraping, struggling, and crying out to God for a breakthrough – we’re often too complacent or familiar with the calm to recognize our common graces.

We caught up with Lecrae at the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration; here’s what he had to share:

So, What’s the Play Call?

Don’t forget the common blessings God gives you. Remember that “it could always be worse”. Think about the blessing of breath before you use your breath to complain.

Make the intentional choice to find the blessing in every lesson. Every hardship shines with a golden nugget for us to take with us for the journey ahead.

Try a daily Gratitude Jar – write down something you’re grateful for every day, and place it in a jar. At the end of the year, COUNT IT UP! Your blessings will undoubtedly outnumber your bad days.

Keep yourself encouraged! Support artists with uplifting messages, like Lecrae. Get your copy of “Blessings” on Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, and other digital outlets.
